Recreation Nation to offer several summer programs for area students

    Recreation Nation will offer 10 summer camps to youths in grades third-eighth from June 12-July 28 at Bellmont High School (eight camps), Riverside Center (one camp) and the Decatur City Pool basketball court (one camp).  
    Recreation Nation is a group of volunteers focused on keeping youth active in the community. The goal is for local high school students from Adams Central, Bellmont and South Adams to mentor third-eighth grade students in an activity promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, respect and developing new interests in athletic activities.
    These activities include basketball, softball, baseball, soccer, cross county, football, volleyball, golf, cheerleading and tennis. There is no cost to attend the camps.
    Recreation Nation will partner with the North Adams Free Lunch Program sites:
    — June 12 — Breakfast will served from 8-9 a.m. at Bellmont High School (S1 entrance). A soccer game will be played from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at Bellmont. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m.-12:45 p.m. at Bellmont (E2), and from 12-1:30 p.m. at the city pool. Basketball and fun will take place from 1-3 p.m. at the city pool.
    — June 13 — Breakfast will served from 8-9 a.m. at Bellmont High School (S1). Cross country will then be from 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m. at the school. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m.-12:45 p.m. at Bellmont (E2). Tennis will then be held from 1-3 p.m. at the school.
    — June 14 — Breakfast will served from 8-9 a.m. at Bellmont High School (S1). A football game will be played from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m.-12:45 p.m. at Bellmont (E2). Golfing will take place from 1-3 p.m. at the school.
    — June 15 — Breakfast will served from 8-9 a.m. at Bellmont High School (S1). Baseball and softball games will be played from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at the school. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m.-12:45 p.m. at Bellmont E2. Cheerleading will take place from 1-3 p.m. at the school.
    — June 16 — From 10 a.m.-12 p.m., a volleyball game will be held at Riverside Center. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m.-12:45 p.m. at Bellmont (E2).
    Registration forms may be picked up at the Decatur library and should be turned in at the student's first camp. The forms must be turned into a Recreation Nation staff member before participating in the camps. Late registrations forms are welcome.
