July 4th celebration schedule of events

    Following is the schedule for Decatur's 23rd annual July 4 celebration, to be held Saturday in the area behind Riverside Center. Jackson Street will be closed.
    6 p.m. — Music by the Filthy Rags band

Bunge to test sirens Wednesday

    Bunge North America will test its emergency alert systems at its Decatur plant starting at 6 p.m. Wednesday. The tests will run for approximately 90 minutes, according to Plant Manager Keith Sanders.

A closer look at Relay for Life on Wednesday

    The annual Adams County Relay for Life was held over the weekend, despite difficulties presented by the continued deluge of rain that has fallen in the area this month.

VW to host Old Fashioned Farmers Days

    The 39th annual Old Fashioned Farmers Days will be held from July 2-5 at the Van Wert Fairgrounds.

    Zina is a 10 year-old Miniature Schnauzer belonging to Ellen and Barry Barnes, Decatur.
    Zina loves walks and car rides. She loves to eat ice and will sit and stare at you till you share your ice. She loves to cuddle on her mom and dad and take naps.

High water causes road closures

    High water has once again closed S.R. 101 between Pleasant Mills and U.S. 224, as well as Ohio 49 east of Willshire.
    U.S. 224 in front of Bellmont High School and Monroe Street Extended both remain open for travel this morning.

Sandbag collection cancelled in Decatur

    The Adams County Emergency Management agency announced that sandbag pickup scheduled for Saturday has been cancelled due to the weekend weather forecast. Volunteers should not report on Saturday morning.

Relay for Life kicks off at noon Saturday

    Floodwaters that wreaked havoc in the town of Monroe last week have led to a few logistical changes for this year’s Adams County Relay for Life American Cancer Society fundraiser. But the event will go on as planned, rain or shine.

Pocket Park naming ceremony is a go

    The name of the park at the corner of 2nd and Monroe streets in downtown Decatur will be revealed at a “Party in the Park” from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, rain or shine.

Flash flood watch in effect for Adams County

    The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for portions of Northeast Indiana, including Adams County,  from 2 p.m. today through Saturday morning.
    Other counties included in the flood watch area include Jay, Huntington, Allen and Blackford.
