4 killed in Sunday morning collision

The Adams County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a two vehicle collision which claimed the lives of four people Sunday.
Deputies were dispatched around 10:30 a.m. to the area of S.R. 124 and C.R. 650E, just west of the Indiana-Ohio line outside Willshire. The initial investigation, coupled with witness statements, indicate a 2017 Toyota Camry was northbound on C.R. 650E and stopped at the intersection of S.R. 124. The Camry apparently indicated an eastbound turn and proceeded into the intersection; however, witnesses state the vehicle stopped suddenly in mid-turn for an unknown reason, then steered the vehicle slightly north, continuing east in the westbound lane and into the path of a 2004 Chevrolet 2500 pickup truck.
The collision resulted in a backseat passenger in the Camry being ejected from the vehicle. The driver of the Camry and three other passengers in the vehicle were all pronounced dead at the scene. It appears no passengers in either vehicle were properly restrained.
The names of the victims will be released by Adams Coroner Leslie Cook.
This accident remains under investigation. Assisting at the scene were the Monroe Fire Department, Adams County EMS, Indiana State Police and Indiana Conservation Officers.
