Autopsy scheduled to determine cause of death of Adams County inmate

    The Indiana State Police and Adams County Coroner are investigating the death of an inmate at the county jail.
    According to a news release by the state police, confinement officers at the Adams County Jail contacted emergency services at approximately 1:50 p.m. Wednesday after an inmate was found unresponsive. First responders and paramedics arrived at the facility, where CPR was being performed on the inmate by sheriff’s deputies. All efforts of resuscitation were unsuccessful and the inmate was pronounced dead on the scene by paramedics.
    This incident is being investigated by the Indiana State Police and Adams County Coroner’s Office. The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of family members.
    Adams County Coroner Leslie Cook said an autopsy to determine the inmate’s cause of death is scheduled for Friday.
