Cause of Adams County inmate's death revealed

            The Indiana State Police released a statement Friday evening in regards to the death of an Adams County inmate on Christmas day. According to Adams County Coroner Leslie Cook, it was determined via autopsy Friday that Daniel J. Dauscher, 49, died as a result of asphyxia due to hanging and his death has been ruled a suicide.

            The deceased was alone in his cell when the hanging occurred.

            The incident happened at approximately 1:50 p.m. Wednesday after Dauscher was found unresponsive. First responders and paramedics arrived at the facility and CPR was performed by sheriff’s deputies. All efforts of resuscitation were unsuccessful and Dauscher was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
