City police warn of door-to-door scam

Staff Writer

According to the Decatur Police Department Facebook page, the department recently received multiple complaints about door-to-door sales people, both male and female. Officers investigated the subjects who were claiming to sell cleaning products in the Stratton area.
The process they are using is for the buyer to write them a check and they then tell the "buyer" they will bring back the product. More complaints further east. Officers have confirmed that these "sales people" have not registered with city hall and this does not seem to be a legitimate sales process.
The DPD recommends not answering your door if these individuals knock or ring your bell. Like mentioned earlier, there are both male and female subjects and like wearing a white shirt as their uniform, and they will most likely be wearing a back pack.
