After a successful freshman season at the University of Evansville, Bellmont graduate and Decatur resident Kristen Harvey was hoping for a spring filled with training and conditioning, mixed in with bonding with teammates. Instead, because of the pandemic, she has been forced home into isolation like the rest of us. As mentioned last week, she does have one big advantage over her teammates: she has a brother who is also a D-1 soccer star.
“It’s very easy to look at the negatives through all of this, but I am very thankful to have a great family to come home to! My brother and I have been working together almost every day to get better. He has helped me become a better version of myself on and off the field, so it’s great being able to train with him at home.”
Harvey has also had to deal with a coaching change in the program at Evansville. After a rough season that saw the Purple Aces finish 2-12-3, the athletic department chose not to renew the contract of former All-American Krista McKendree.
After a month-long search, the program was handed over Chris Pfau, who was an assistant last season, but had previously served as head coach of the program from 2005 to 2007.
