A familiar name to local basektball fans will be at the helm of the Huntington University Men’s basketball program next season: Kory Alford.
At just 27 years old, Alford followed his father, former IU star Steve Alford, by playing at UCLA and New Mexico.
As a player, Kory won two state titles in high school and played in two NCAA tournaments as a player. After graduating, he joined his father’s staff at UCLA, where he worked for five years as an assistant coach.
“I am incredibly blessed and so excited about joining the Huntington family,” said Alford in a phone interview Monday with the DDD. “I knew from the time the job opened that it was perfect for my wife and me.”
