Many basketball games are won at the free throw line, but if you’ve got a big enough lead, poor foul shooting won’t doom you.
Adams Central benefited from that second situation last Friday as it sank just six of 16 FTs in the fourth quarter (37.5%), yet pulled off a 57-46 victory on the road in the South Adams Stardome.
The win also wrapped up Allen County Athletic Conference play for both teams, with AC finishing at 3-3 and SA at 2-4.
AC coach Aaron McClure said he told his guys before tipoff, “Get the ball and go at them and [each one] be a player — and we just played!”
He said the 7-12 Jets, who have had a number of high-turnover games, were instructed to “make good passes” and “for the most part, they did that,” since the squad had only six TOs, while the 9-8 Starfires had just eight.
