OSSIAN — Hallie Frauhiger improved her 500 yard free style time by 15 seconds in Tuesday’s loss at Norwell. The Lady Jets fell 45-122 in their first dual meet of the season.
“I want to see what they can do,” head coach Amanda Bluhm said after the meet. “This early in the season, they (the girls’ swim team) just want to know how they can do.”
Bluhm has six senior girls on the team and said that finding how and where her team was the most effective has been challenging, yet fun. The mens’ team doesn’t start competing until later this month.
Frauhiger had a strong showing in the 200y free, finishing first with a time of 2:16.67. She bested her time from Saturday by over five seconds. Her time in the 500 was 6:20.55, which was two seconds behind the second place spot.
Megan Carrico earned the runner-up position in two races, finishing a second behind Norwell in both the 50 and 100y freestyle. Her times were 27.49 and 1:02.27 respectively.
“Hallie is really stepping up, she’s a sophomore that we put in the 5 (500y free) and she’s doing really well,” Bluhm stated.
Grace Moser added a second place in the 200 IM in 2:58.06, Sydney Christner was second in the 100y back stroke in 1:18.15. The 200y free relay team of Elizabeth Bluhm, Christner, Frauhiger and Carrico also came in second.
“We face Norwell in our Sectional, so we take this as a reference of where we should be.”
