Names released of 4 killed in Sunday crash

Adams County Coroner Leslie Cook has released the names of four people killed in a Sunday morning accident in rural Adams County.
Killed in the two vehicle collision near the Indiana/Ohio line were Alan Dannenfelser, 72, Fort Wayne, Jane Dannenfelser, 65, Fort Wayne, Duane Clifton, 93, of Ohio, and Scheryl Clifton, 76, of Ohio. Cook stated all the victims died of blunt force trauma.
Adams County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched around 10:30 a.m. Sunday to the area of S.R. 124 and C.R. 650E, just west of the Indiana-Ohio line outside of Willshire, Ohio. The initial investigation, coupled with witness statements, indicate a 2017 Toyota Camry driven by Jane Dannenfelser was northbound on C.R. 650E and stopped at the intersection of S.R. 124. Dannenfelser apparently indicated an eastbound turn onto 124 and proceeded into the intersection; however, witnesses state the vehicle stopped suddenly in mid-turn for an unknown reason, then turned slightly north, continuing east in the westbound lane and into the path of a 2004 Chevrolet 2500 pickup truck.
The collision resulted in a backseat passenger in the Camry being ejected from the vehicle. All four passengers in the Camry were pronounced dead at the scene. It appears no passengers in either vehicle were properly restrained.
This accident remains under investigation. Assisting at the scene were the Monroe Fire Department, Adams County EMS, Indiana State Police and Indiana Conservation Officers.
