There was a call to Decatur police Thursday afternoon about a male walking around McBarnes Street with a rifle. As a precaution, according to officials, Officer Trent Busse called Southeast Elementary School and told the school to lock down while the incident was investigated.
According to Decatur Police Chief Leonard Corral Jr., Busse said he found the person in question. He was a teenager with a rifle BB gun, with no ill intentions he was simply passing by the school on his way somewhere else. The school was notified and the lockdown was lifted.
