Rain once again threatening area roadways

Staff Writer

With the ground still saturated from the record June rainfall, storms this week are once again causing headaches for area drivers. Water is threatening or impeding travel on several rural roadways. At 6 a.m. this morning, Ohio 49 running east of Willshire to U.S. 224, was down to one lane of travel as water from the St. Marys River had flooded the southbound lane.
Drivers are urged to use extreme caution while driving and be alert to low-lying area where high water is known to occur. If you come across water in the roadway, turn around and find an alternate route.
