The Adams County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a local man Thursday afternoon.
According to a news release by Adams County Sheriff Dan Mawhorr, sheriff’s deputies were dispatched at 1:22 p.m. after Decatur police officers requested assistance questioning a subject in reference to an alleged crime at a rural Adams County home.
When Decatur police knocked on the door of the residence, they reportedly heard a single gunshot from within the residence. At that time, the detectives found cover and requested sheriff’s deputies and additional law enforcement to the scene.
Once a search warrant was obtained, the Indiana State Police Emergency Response Team was called to the scene to enter the residence. Once inside, police found a deceased male, with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
