Local wrestlers performed well Friday night at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, winning three of five matches and guaranteeing nine matches on Saturday. Ike Ruble and Caden Friedt took out Cathedral opponents and Alex Currie pulled off an upset by beating #3 A.J. Poindexter.
Ike Ruble started the action off immediately for local teams, taking the mat just minutes into the action after East Noble’s Keegan Mallot was surprisingly pinned in the opening period by undefeated Bryce Lowery of Roncalli.
Ruble was in on the leg attack early on Evan Dickey of Indianapolis Cathedral and scored the opening takedown of the match, followed quickly by a leg ride. The once-beaten Ruble then scored two nearfall on a cradle as he continued to control Dickey from top.
The Irish little man rode Ruble well to start the second period but after a minute, Ruble found his escape and the two scrambled through single legs and wizzers to enter the third period with the score 5-0.
