Vehicles to be towed as Inclement weather approaches

Staff Writer

The Indiana State Police will begin clearing abandoned vehicles from state, interstate and U.S. highways in advance of the approaching weather system forecast for tonight and into tomorrow morning.
Contrary to the usual practice of tagging abandoned vehicles for 24 or 72 hours, all abandoned vehicles are being towed to reduce the risk to other drivers and allow snow removal equipment to safely clear the roadways. All major highway systems in the 11 county coverage are of the Fort Wayne District will be given priority.
If your vehicle is towed from one of the major roadways in any of these counties, contact the Fort Wayne Post at (260) 432-8661 for assistance in locating it.
Remember to make preparations now for any travel as this inclement weather approaches.      Also, allow for extra time to get to your destination, and leave an appropriate amount of space between yourself and other motorists.
